Biographical / historical:

Martin B. Fast (1858-1949) was an author, editor, humanitarian, and early member of the Mennonite Central Committee. He was born in Molochna Colony in 1858, which was a Russian Mennonite settlement in what is now Zaporizhzhia Oblast in Ukraine. He immigrated to the United States in 1879. Fast's humanitarian work included helping fellow Mennonites escape Siberia during the Russian Civil War. Fast died in Fresno, California, in 1949.
