Background

Scope and content:

This collection contains material from the Lesbian Archives of Sonoma County, documenting the organization’s community activities from 1975-1995. The collection includes documents, CDs, flyers, posters, t-shirts, artwork, photographs, and oral histories. There is a subset within the collection that is dedicated to the lives of Gayle Remick and Frances Fuchs, pioneers of lesbian and LGBT rights in Sonoma county. Also included are biographical files, news articles, photographs, design documents, and pieces of jewelry that document the life and creative output of Jane Sipe, a lesbian artist and jewelry maker. The oral histories are video recorded interviews of numerous people, recorded circa 2007-2020, discussing early lesbian activism and life in Sonoma County.
