Biographical / Historical
David Victor (1910-1989) was an American television producer and screenwriter. Born David Vikodetz in what is now Ukraine,
Victor and his mother immigrated to the United States in 1923. During the Great Depression Victor, in an effort to support
his mother, set aside his interest in medicine to work. Eventually this interest led him to write and produce the medical
dramas
Marcus Welby, M.D. (1969-1976), and
Dr. Kildare (1961-1966).
Victor produced 37 television programs including
Little Women (1978),
The Man from U.N.C.L.E. (1964-1968), and
The Rebel (1959-1961). He also wrote episodes for many programs such as
Gunsmoke (1955-1975),
Fireside Theatre (1949-1955), and
Rawhide (1959-1965).
