Scope and content:

Approximately 1300 digital image files photographed by Peter Goin that comprise the complete set of Goin's photographs for his Colors of California Agriculture project. Photographs, taken from 2006 to 2013, document various aspects of California agriculture, including produce, irrigation, industry, labor, livestock, and landscape views. Many images were used in the publication: A Field guide to California agriculture, by Paul F. Starrs and Peter Goin.

Biographical information from the website petergoin.com (visited Nov., 2022): "Peter Goin, Foundation Professor of Art at the University of Nevada, Reno, produces photographs dealing with the long-term impact of culture and technology on the environment. Using the language of the Fine Arts, Peter's work integrates history, architecture, urban planning, and the social and political sciences in an interdisciplinary manner. He has published more than 20 books with such prestigious publishers as The Johns Hopkins University Press, University of California Press, University of Chicago Press, University of Texas Press, the Center for American Places, and Norton Publishers. Peter's work is included in more than 43 major collections." "Peter's photographs have been exhibited in more than fifty museums nationally and internationally, and he is the recipient of two National Endowment for the Arts Fellowships. His video work has earned him an EMMY nomination as well as the Best Experimental Video Award at the 2001 New York International Film & Video Festival. At the turn of the new century, Peter was awarded the Nevada Governor's Millennium Arts Award for Excellence in the Arts."
