The San Fernando Earthquake Damage Photograph Collection includes photographs of damage caused by the 1971 Sylmar earthquake. Photographs primarily document the Sylmar area and northern section of the San Fernando Valley, particularly of the Olive View Hospital and San Fernando Valley Juvenile Hall. Photographs were taken, unofficially, by a building inspector of the Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety, Conservation Bureau, in his earthquake investigations.
