Papers of award-winning poet Marsha Truman Cooper, including correspondence with other American poets (such as Ted Kooser) broadsides, ephemera, chapbooks and serials (cataloged separately).

Also included in the collection are photographs, poetry and essay manuscripts, and audiocassettes of Truman Cooper reading her poem "The Fire."

Biographical / historical:

Born in Modesto, California, Marsha Truman Cooper grew up in Patterson, California. Truman Cooper's father, Marvin Allen Truman, was stationed on the island of Saipan as a United States Army Air Corps service technician during World War II.

Truman Cooper's poetry chapbooks include A Knot of Worms (Finishing Line Press, 2013) and Substantial Holdings (Pudding House Publications, 2002). Truman Cooper was awarded first prize in the New Letters Literary Awards competition (1987) and was a recipient of the Bernice Slote Poetry Award from Prairie Schooner (1991).
