Scope and content:

This collection includes Santa Cruz County documents and correspondence from 1850 to 1945. Specifically, court and legal briefs, subpoenas, and judgements regarding felony and misdemeanor trials and complaints; stock certificates from the Rowardennan Redwood Park Co. and the Quicksilver Mining Co.; mining and land claims; county fiscal statements; communications between contractors and the Santa Cruz County Board of Supervisors regarding the building of the county courthouse and other construction project.

The collection also includes three early California documents.

Acquisition information:
Various donor gifts and purchases. Box 4 gift of Thomas Kelly. Box 10 gift of Wendall Hammon. Box 11, folder 2, gift of Ernie Howe. Box 11, folder 3, gift of Laura King. Box 11, folder 5 and 6, on loan from the Santa Cruz Historical Trust.
Arrangement:

The material is arranged chronologically by date. Exceptions are: Box 4 documents which were separated due to mud damage, and Boxes 10 and 11 which contain newly found material added to the end of the collection.
