Biographical / historical:

Oscar Leavitt Collier was born in Missouri on Jul 2, 1866, to Luther and Martha [Carter] Collier. He married Bessie Lee [Lowen] Collier, and their children were Raymond Allen (1893-1914), Ruth Higbee [Collier] Spinney (1896-1965), and Clifton Kathryn [Collier] Walker (1903-1996). He passed away on Apr. 1, 1947, and is buried in the East Line Street Cemetery, Bishop, Inyo County, California.

In 1886, Collier was employed by the Chicago, Rock Island & Pacific as a night seal clerk and had been there for two years prior. At the time of the 1900 census, Collier was employed as a locomotive engineer in Kansas. In 1910 he was an engineer for the Northern Pacific on the Ricky Mountain Division. By the 1940 census he is employed in California at a steam locomotive engineer.
