    Custodial History

    The donor, Ian C. MacInnes is the stepson of Elizabeth "Bettie" MacInnes neé Walters. Bettie married Commander John Nealon MacInnes, United States Naval Reserve on November 27th, 1946.
    This collection was assembled by Elizabeth "Bettie" MacInnes.

    Content Description

    This collection contains correspondence written by Sergeant Robert H. "Bob" Walters, U.S. Army Air Force, Sergeant Theodore W. "Ted" Walters, U.S Marine Corps, and Elizabeth "Bettie" Walters during the Second World War. Bob served in the Army Air Corps as a radio technician during the push through Italy while Ted served as a Marine pilot in the Pacific theater. Bettie worked overseas for the American Red Cross, traveling with Patton's Second Army across Europe. She witnessed the liberation of Dachau in 1945.
