This collection contains correspondence written by Sergeant David Ebner, USA, to Charlotte Brown, who he refers to as "Pooch" or "Poochie Honey", during the Second World War. Ebner and Brown were dating during the war and later married in 1947.
The first letter in the collection was labeled with a note that read "1st letter bootcamp." A second letter, dated June 1st, was labeled with a note that read "June 1st 1945." His last letter discusses the upcoming surrender of the Japanese Empire.

Source: donor David Ebner was born on April 19, 1920, in Passaic, New Jersey. He attended William Paterson University and was drafted into the army in 1943 before finishing his undergraduate degree. His training began at Camp Croft, South Carolina and was later stationed at Palau in the Pacific Ocean. After he was honorably discharged in 1945, he attended Pennsylvania College of Optometry on the G.I. Bill and became an optometrist. He married Charlotte Brown on June 8, 1947, at Temple Emanuel in Paterson, New Jersey. They lived in Pompton Lakes, New Jersey, where their son Stephen, and daughter Carol were born, and in 1955 they moved to Oakland, New Jersey. David died on June 23, 2012 at the age of 92.
