Scope and content:

Secretary's books containing lists of officers and members, and meeting minutes of the Willing Workers Society of Valley View, a benevolent women's group created in 1895. The first book also contains the Constitution and Bylaws.

Biographical / historical:

According to the Constitution and Bylaws, the society was established as an entitled Willing Workers society to consist of no less than 10 members, including one qualified to preside at the meetings to be held on Thursday, at 2 o'clock every four weeks. The object of the society was benevolence, with dues of 60 cents yearly, and application for membership to be voted on by existing members.

Acquisition information:
Donated to the San Jose Historical Museum in 1977 by Ruby Howes.
