Description
Materials cataloging the financial and legal history of the Claremont Cooperative Water Company. The CCWC was established
in 1902 just north of Claremont and served agricultural laborers and residents by delivering water through a series of cement
pipes.
Background
Operated on 90 acres of land, the Claremont Cooperative Water Company provided irrigation for stockholders within a 2.75-mile
radius. Water was not sold directly, and stockholders purchased delivery at a price of $0.0125 per hour-inch. The CCWC operated
in competition with dozens of irrigation enterprises in the Pomona Valley, many of which were more successful.
