Description
The Ronald P. Stenlake papers (1960s-1980s) includes papers, official documents, correspondents, reports, programs, brochures, and pamphlets regarding education. Stenlake was a Peace Corps volunteer serving in Ethiopia from 1966-1968. He established the Ethiopian Educational Television and was the radio advisor to the Ministry of Education.
Background
Ronald P. Stenlake (1941-2008) graduated from Lafayette College in Easton, Pennsylvania in 1963 and the University of Virginia Law School in 1966. While in school, he was interested in radio broadcasting. He served as a Peace Corps volunteer to Ethiopia from 1966-1968. While in Ethiopia he established the Ethiopian Educational Television and served as its producer and director. He was also the radio advisor to the Ministry of Education. While in Ethiopia, in 1966, he experienced the bombing of a movie theater and later wrote a report about the incident. Upon completion of his service with the Peace Corps, he spent some time as Assistant to the President of Lafayette College.
