Background

Scope and content:

This collection consists of electronic records documenting USC's Master of Management in Library and Information Science (MMLIS) program when it was administered jointly by the USC Marshall School of Business and the USC Libraries from 2013 to 2024. The collection holds 1170 digital files organized in 57 digital folders. Out of the 1170 files in the collection, 763 are digital image files, 371 are PDF files, and 36 are DOCX files. The collection documents the MMLIS program's history and operations, including syllabi from courses offered between 2013 and 2024, the MMLIS Newsletter, student capstone projects, and lists of faculty and graduates. The collection also holds files relating to conferences, commencement ceremonies, and other events. The examples of student capstone projects documented in the collection were created using Scalar, an authoring and publishing platform used to create born-digital, media-rich research projects and exhibitions. As of August 2024, all of the Scalar projects listed in the collection's files are publicly accessible. The Scalar sites are not preserved as part of the USC Marshall MMLIS records. In 2024, USC's MMLIS program was restructured, transitioning from a degree program offered through the USC Marshall School of Business to a program offered through USC Bovard College. This collection only holds records from the Marshall School of Business program.
