Scope and content:

This collection includes five scrapbooks, loose materials and photographs documenting the very early years of UC Santa Cruz campus planning and construction. Also included are 35mm films of campus construction and events taken by Fackler.

Biographical / historical:

Lou Fackler founding campus engineer at UC Santa Cruz, was interviewed and hired by Founding Chancellor Dean McHenry. He was the campus's eleventh employee and began work in January of 1963.
