Background

Scope and content:

This collection contains two travel scrapbooks compiled by Lillian Noce of Denver, Colorado. The scrapbooks document her trip to Japan as a Delegate for the World Federation of Education Associations (WFEA) World Conference in 1937, and the associated tour of the Philippines, China, and Japan.

One scrapbook documents the tour of the Philippines, China, and Japan. It contains photographs, magazine and newspaper clippings, postcards, dried flowers, and some ephemera such as dinner menus. The photographs depict the local communities, culture, fashion, and landmarks of the places Noce visited. Many of the photographs have typed description on the backside. There is also a small amount of US and European travel ephemera.

The other scrapbook documents the WFEA conference. It contains conference documents such as programs, committee reports, meeting agendas, bulletins, and conference name badges; travel ephemera such as schedules, train tickets, itineraries, maps, and dinner menus and entertainment programs; as well as local association papers (such as the Japan Women's Club), newspaper and magazine clippings, and a small amount of correspondence to Noce from friends and family.
