Scope and content:

Dr. Mario T. García’s papers include material related to the book Padre: the life and spiritual journey of Father Virgil Cordano and the Franciscans of California. The collection includes tape cassettes of interviews with Fr. Virgil and the annotated transcriptions of those tapes. Also included are draft manuscripts, research material, various newspaper clippings about Fr. Virgil and announcements of book signings, and floppy disks.

Biographical / historical:

Mario T. García began his teaching career at the University of California, Santa Barbara, in 1975, where he taught in the Chicana and Chicano Studies and History Departments. His research interests focused on civil rights, Chicano Catholic history, and the Chicano movement.
