Biographical / historical:

Deng Jinxian 鄧金鍌 (1908-1973), born in Kaiping County, Guangdong Province, was a pediatrician and member of the Beijing Municipal People's Congress. In 1937 he graduated from Peking Union Medical College and began serving in the Peking Union College Hospital. After the Japanese occupation of Beijing, Deng was forced to leave the Peking Union College Hospital. He instead founded the Beijing Children's Hospital with several other medical doctors. After the Chinese Communist takeover of the mainland, Deng stayed in Beijing and continued to serve in the Beijing Children's Hospital while concurrently teaching at the Peking University Medical School. Between 1954 and 1973 Deng was a three-time elected Member of the Beijing Municipal People's Congress. In 1964, he was elected Member of the People's Political Consultative Conference, a position he held until his death on March 13, 1973.
