The Nature Printing Society (NPS) is a non-profit organization dedicated to the fine art of nature printing. Nature printing is a printing process, developed in the 18th century, that uses plants, animals, rocks, and other natural subjects to produce an image. The NPS was founded in 1976 by Chris Dewees, Eric Hochberg, and Robert Little.
NPS creates articles, demonstrations, classes, and exhibitions relating to all forms of nature printing. The original guidelines for prints were based on those of Gyotaku-Kai (Friends of the Fish Print), a Japanese organization of artists and ichthyologists under the leadership of Yoshio Hiyama, an ichthyologist from the University of Tokyo.
