- Biographical / historical:

John T. Cassell was born in Baltimore, Maryland in 1837. He worked as a miner and co-owned the Golden Chariot at Tuscarora. He owned Goleta ranch in Santa Barbara County with Stephen Roberts. He died in San Francisco on July 1, 1893.
