The Louis M. Lowry Personal Papers is composed of a small collection of photographs and documents from Lowry's military training in the U.S. Army Air Corps and his civilian career with North American Rockwell from 1943 to 1975.

Background

Scope and content:

The collection is housed in one 12.25" x 10.25" x 2.5" standing box. The collection contains 8.5” x 11” documents and images of various sizes.The documents consist primarily of certificates presented to Louis Lowry during his military service and civilian career. The images consist primarily of black and white photographs of 1920’s biplanes and aviators, and of color snapshots of radio telescopes circa 1975.

Biographical / historical:

Louis M. Lowry graduated from Parachute Riggers School at Chanute Field at Rantoul, Illinois in 1931. He went on to work for North American Rockwell Corporation from 1943 to 1969.

Acquisition information:
The materials in this collection were added to the San Diego Air Space Museum when the museum incorporated the collections of the International Aerospace Hall of Fame in April 1993. The collection has been processed and is open for research with no restrictions.
