- This collection comprises glass plate negatives as well as two nitrate negatives and 80 digital prints (made from the negatives) created by F. J. Geisler (possibly Francis Joseph Geisler of Martinez). The images were taken cheifly in Martinez, but also inlclude Alhambra Valley, Concord, Crockett, Port Costa, and San Francisco, California and feature birds-eye views, street scenes, buildings, parades, and damage from the 1906 earthquake in Martinez. The date range is approximately from 1906 through 1926.

This collection comprises 84 glass plate negatives and two nitrate negatives created by F. J. Geisler (possibly Francis Joseph Geisler of Martinez) as well as 80 digital prints made from the negatives. The date range for the photographs is approximately from 1906 through 1926. The images were taken chiefly in Martinez, but also include Alhambra Valley, Concord, Crockett, Port Costa, and San Francisco, California and feature birds-eye views, street scenes, buildings, parades, and damage from the 1906 earthquake in Martinez. Notable subjects include the California and Hawaiian Sugar Company, Selby Smelting Works, the Contra Costa County Courthouse, the County Hospital, and John Muir's home. Some of the negatives have inscriptions on them (written or stamped). There are also original envelopes for the glass plates that have handwritten inscriptions variably noting the location, event, and date. The inscriptions as well as Geisler's original numbers associated with each negative are transcribed in the item listing.
