Description
The Stanford Linear Accelerator Center (SLAC) collection of reference material ranges in date from 1965 to 1993. Retained as part of a reference library used by computing services staff, the collection includes manuals, user guides, technical reports, and program libraries. In addition to computing documentation, there are newletters, including the TeX TUGboat newletter, and memos, such as the Stanford Computation Research Group Technical Memos (CGTMs).
Background
SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory, originally named Stanford Linear Accelerator Center (SLAC), is a Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Science laboratory operated by Stanford University on behalf of the DOE and located in Menlo Park, California. The laboratory was founded in 1962 with the initial goal of building and maintaining a linear particle accelerator. While SLAC's scientific mission was originally focused on particle physics and accelerator science, in the past 50 years it has expanded to include cosmology, materials and environmental sciences, biology, chemistry, and alternative energy research.
