The Stanford Linear Accelerator Center (SLAC) collection of reference material is composed of computing documentation ranging in date from 1965 to 1993. The collection includes manuals, user guides, technical reports, memos, program libraries, and newsletters. These items were either purchased by or created at SLAC and were retained as part of a reference library used by computing services staff. Items of note include Stanford Computation Research Group Technical Memos (CGTMs) and volumes 1 through 11 of TeX TUGboat, the TeX Users Group newsletter. There are also manuals for computer terminals as well as user guides for systems such as the IBM 3800 Printer, IBM System/390, RISC System/6000, and NeXT computers.

SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory, originally named Stanford Linear Accelerator Center (SLAC), is a Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Science laboratory operated by Stanford University on behalf of the DOE and located in Menlo Park, California. The laboratory was founded in 1962 with the initial goal of building and maintaining a linear particle accelerator. While SLAC's scientific mission was originally focused on particle physics and accelerator science, in the past 50 years it has expanded to include cosmology, materials and environmental sciences, biology, chemistry, and alternative energy research.
