Background
Robert Charles Fisher (1930-2020) was an editor, writer, and agent with the (now disbanded) International Organizations Division of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). He studied at Harvard College, Columbia University Law School, and Tokyo University Graduate School of Law. Fisher was a United States National Student Association (USNSA) delegate at Harvard College and a representative for the USNSA while studying at Tokyo University. While with the USNSA, Fisher wrote reports on suspected communists within the USNSA and sent the reports to then-senator Richard Nixon; Nixon reported these findings to Congress' House Committee on Un-American Activities. During the Korean War, Fisher served in the United States Army's Counter Intelligence Corps in Japan and Korea. Following thirteen years with the CIA, he worked as president and editor-in-chief of Fodor travel guides and published books on travel and art.
