Background

Scope and content:

The collection contains slides used in a slide show created by grassroots organizers of the Bay Area Coalition Against the Briggs Initiative (BACABI).The coalition coordinated the struggle against the initiative, Proposition 6, which would have banned gays and lesbians, and possibly anyone who supported gay rights, from working in California's public schools. Writer and activist Hollibaugh, the founding director the Lesbian AIDS Project (LAP) of the Gay Men's Health Crisis (GMHC) in New York City, traveled throughout rural California campaigning against the initiative. The collection also includes instructions, a list of images and the narrative for the slide show, "Don't Let It Happen Here." GSSO Linked Terms: http://purl.obolibrary.org/obo/GSSO_003201
