Background

Scope and content:

The collection consists of correspondence, Kuomintang (KMT) reports, journal and newspaper articles written by Sung, and meeting notes from his time in Berlin concerning Taiwan-Soviet relations. It also contains official letters of appointment and family photographs.

Biographical / historical:

Sung Feng-en 宋鳳恩 (Song Feng'en 宋凤恩), served as chief of the Berlin office of Taiwan's government information bureau in Berlin (1969-1972). During this time, he engaged in secret meetings with Boris Pakhomov, his counterpart from the Russian News Agency (TASS), to discuss Taiwan-Soviet and Sino-Soviet relations.
