Description
A collection of the research and working correspondence of the Renaissance and Elizabethan literary scholar and educator William A. Ringler.
Background
William Andrew Ringler, Jr. (1912-1987) literary scholar and educator was born in New Jersey. Ringler was Professor of English at the University of Chicago from 1962 to 1979, Senior Research Associate at the Henry E. Huntington Library from 1979 to 1987, and faculty associate at California Institute of Technology from 1982 to 1987. Ringler was the author of works on Renaissance and Elizabethan literature, including "The Poems of Sir Philip Sidney" (1962), and "Bibliography and index of English verse" (1988). Ringler died in Pasadena, California, in 1987.
