Scope and content:

The collection contains minutes and some resolutions, rulings, motion forms, exhibit books, bylaws, and financial records from the governing bodies of The Ebell of Los Angeles. The collection is arranged into four series: 1) BOARD OF DIRECTORS (1897-2017). This series is the bulk of the collection. Several of the records include a combination of Board of Directors, Monday Programs, Executive Committee, and/or Ebell Operating Company minutes bound together. Contents include Treasurer’s Reports, House Rules, By-Laws, check listings, motion forms, and notes on scholarships and memberships. Boxes 1-12 contain bound books. The books in Box 1 are handwritten records. Extent: 18 linear ft. (21 archives boxes and 11 flat boxes) 2) EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE (1894-1929). This series contains the Resolutions, Rulings, and Minutes of the Executive Committee. Items include 21 bound books with handwritten records and 1 set of Resolutions from a binder. Extent: 3.5 linear ft. (3 archives boxes and 3 flat boxes) 3) GENERAL ASSEMBLY (1899-1929, 1960-1999). This series contains minutes from the General Assembly, also known as the Monday or Monday Afternoon Meeting. Extent: 1.7 linear ft. (4 archives boxes) 4) EBELL OPERATING COMPANY (1986, 1998, 2002-2011). This series contains the minutes from the Ebell Operating Company Board of Directors. The series also includes bylaws from 1986, financial records from 1998, and motions and exhibit books from 2002. Extent: .8 linear ft. (2 archives box)
