Scope and content:: A group of 19 black and white photographs, 8 x 10 inches, taken by Julius Shulman of the W. Parker Lyon House, designed by architect Thornton Ladd in 1948, in Pasadena, California. Photographs of the mid-century modern style residence depict the exterior, landscaping, interior rooms, furnishings, and an early television. The house is listed in the National Register of Historic Places.
Biographical / historical:: The house was built for W. Parker Lyon, Jr. (1897-1989) and his wife Gladys (Stover) Lyon. Lyon, Jr. was vice president of the Pasadena branch of the Lyon Van and Storage Company. His father, W. Parker Lyon, was the head of Lyon Van and Storage Company, and creator of the Pony Express Museum, California.
Acquisition information:: Gift of Ethan and Joanne Lipsig, March 2024.
Custodial history:: The photographs were purchased by the Lipsigs from Julius Shulman.
