Background

Biographical / historical:

The Frontera Collection was created by Chris Strachwitz, founder of Arhoolie Records, over a sixty-year period beginning around 1960. Strachwitz donated the collection to the Arhoolie Foundation in 1995. Digitization of the collection began in 2000 in collaboration with UCLA.
