Description
This collection contains issues of Ang Katipunan, the newspaper of the Katipunan ng mga Demokratikong Pilipino (KDP) [Union of Democratic Filipinos], as well as issues of Kalayaan International- a publication created by the Kalayaan Collective, a group who would go on to form KDP.
Background
The Union of Democratic Filipinos or Katipunan ng Demokratikong Pilipino(KDP) was founded in 1973 by Filipino Americans and immigrants who were interested in social justice issues; democratic nationalism in the Phillipines; and anti-imperalist, anti-war, and anti-racism issues; as well as martial law and the opposition of Ferdinand Marcos' dictatorship in the Phillipines. The KDP disbanded in 1986.
