- Jon Miller was diagnosed with AIDS in February of 1988, shortly after his diagnosis, he started keeping a journal. This collection contains his journal entries starting September 1988 until December 1989, they were the basis for a book that was to be titled "One Year and Counting." Also included is correspondence with close friend and colleague John Fleischman from 1973 to 1990.

One document box containing correspondence, drafts and journal entries of Jon Miller who died of HIV/AIDS complications in May 1990. Journal entries start in September 1988 and end in December 1989.
The collection contains introductory information provided by John Fleischman about Jon Miller and how he came to acquire his journals. Correspondence between Jon Miller and John Fleischman from 1973 to 1990. During that time Jon Miller was living in San Francisco and Los Angeles. His journal entries detail his experiences as a person living with AIDS. He entries include the experiences of his doctor appointments, interactions with peers and overall daily occurrences.

Collection is open for research. The UCSF Archives and Special Collections policy places access restrictions on material with privacy issues for a specific time period from the date of creation. Access to records that contain personal and confidential information about an individual or individuals is restricted for 75 years from date of creation or until the death of the individual mentioned in the records, whichever is longer.
