Scope and content:

Fourteen maps show properties for School Department, Parks and Playgrounds, Fire Department, Water Department, Miscellaneous, and No Title in City. Corrected base maps drawn by J. C. Gard date from July 1929; hand-applied coloring may be from a later date. A Legend is on front paste-down endpaper, with guide map to the fourteen maps facing.

Biographical / historical:

The Real Estate Department was formed in 1931 when voters approved the new Charter; it replaced the Right-of-Way Department. Joseph J. Phillips was first Director of Property. His description of the new department is found in Municipal Record (Dec. 1933) "Municipal Properties Now Under One Department."
