Abstract:
The collection contains the Radical Research Center (RRC) and the Alternative Press Centre (APC) Indexing Guides, updated lists of indexing terms, and correspondence from the centers, 1968-1972. The RRC, later the APC, sought to provide greater access to independent and alternative periodicals through its publication the Alternative Press Index. Edward J. Bachus indexed the Lotus Nexus and later Gay Sunshine. He was a tenured associate professor at Skidmore College in Saratoga Spring, New York. He was an active member of the American Library Association, Association of College and Research Libraries, and the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force.

Bachus indexed the Lotus Nexus and later Gay Sunshine.

Biographical / historical:

Edward J. Bachus offered to index Lotus Nexus for the Radical Research Center (RRC) at Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota. The RRC became the Alternative Press Centre (APC) in 1971 when the APC relocated to Rochdale College, Toronto, Canada. Bachus also indexed Gay Sunshine for the APC publication the Alternative Press Index. He was the head of technical services at Skidmore College in Saratoga Spring, New York, as of 1971. Bachus achieved tenure as an associate professor in 1975, and Bachus continued with the university into the 1980s. He was also active in National Gay and Lesbian Task Force.
