Research files of Prof. Bruce Robert McElderry (b. 1900) (USC English Dept.) for his biography of critic Sir Max Beerbohm (1872-1856) (Twayne, 1972). Collection contains working copies of Beerbohm's books.

Biographical / historical:

Bruce McElderry was a faculty member in the English Department at USC, who published scholarly works on, among others, Thomas Wolfe and Max Beerbohm.

Sir Henry Maximilian "Max" Beerbohm (1872-1956) was an English essayist, parodist, and caricaturist best known today for his 1911 novel "Zuleika Dobson". Bruce McElderry's biography was published in 1972.
