Background
James Koji Mita was born in 1923 in Oregon. He enlisted in the Army in 1944 and trained at Camp Blanding in Florida with the
Company B 208th Infantry Training Battalion, 64th Training Regiment, where he went on to join F Company in the 2nd Battalion
of the 442nd Regimental Combat Team. After the war he became involved with veteran organizations and went on to be on the
founding board at Go For Broke National Education Center.
