The Daily Bruin is the student newspaper at the University of California, Los Angeles. It began publishing in 1919, the same year UCLA was founded. The Daily Bruin was preceded by The Normal Outlook on the campus of UCLA's predecessor, the Los Angeles State Normal School, from 1910 through 1918. Over the years it went by Cub Californian (1919-1924), California Grizzly (1924-1926), California Daily Bruin (1926-1943, 1944-1948), California Bruin (1943-1944), and UCLA Daily Bruin (1948-present).
The Daily Bruin is published by the ASUCLA Communications Board. As of 2021 its office is located in Kerckhoff 118, where about 500 students work in 17 editorial sections to produce the paper each day. In addition to about 9,000 copies of each daily print issue are distributed at dozens of locations across UCLA, The Daily Bruin runs PRIME, a quarterly culture and lifestyle magazine, and The Stack, a data journalism blog providing a quantitative look at the news. The Daily Bruin also founded and operates bruinwalk.com, UCLA's professor and apartment review website.
