Collection relating to Vitagraph Company and its founder. Images include Blackton's own artwork of the American Vitagraph trademark, his illustrated recollection of the first Vitagraph open air studio in New York, and photographic scenes from "The Battle Cry of Peace". (1897 - 1933) Folders 18 through 21 (1939 - 1947) contain biographical items in the form of clippings; also there is correspondence from museum curators' files. Noteworthy is a strip of ten film frames from an early color and stereoscopic experiment by Mr. Bailey, an associate of Blackton. See also "Motion Picture Story Magazine." This is a copy of the first "fan" magazine under the instigation of J. Stuart Blackton as a souvenir of the dinner given to Edison in 1911 by the Patents Company. It was later published by the members of the Patent Company each member having subscribed $6,000 for the formation of the company to publish it.
