Abstract:
Robert 'Bob' Marx (1930-2023, son of Marx Brothers, Gummo Marx) who was a building contractor in the Coachella Valley. His firm was Marval Construction Company (1957-1964) and he partnered with architect designer Val Powelson. The Marval name combines the owners (Marx and Val). Marval/Marx designed and built many custom high-end homes in the Rancho Mirage Tamarisk area. Several of their buildings are now listed on the Register of Historic Places in Rancho Mirage including the Leo Maranz and Gummo Marx residences as well as Da Vaal Estates.
