This collection contains correspondence written by Sgt. George V. Tudor, USMCR during the Second World War. Among the letter writers and recipients are; his sister, Mary Tudor Lavery; brother-in-law, Edward Lavery; mother, Sofia Tudor; Platoon Leader, First Lieutenant Cord Meyer, Jr. The letter dated July 8, 1944 was the last letter Sgt. Tudor wrote before his death. The collection also contains postmortem correspondence and other papers.

Biographical / historical:

Sergeant George Tudor, United States Marine Corps Reserves (11/15/1915 - 7/22/1944) was born in 1915 in Chicago, Illinois. He was killed in action while serving with Company C, 1st Battalion, 22nd Marines, 1st Provisional Marine Brigade in Guam, Marianas Islands on July 22, 1944.
