Background

Scope and content:

The collection contains various anatomical models and medical artifacts belonging to Robert Porcella, a family doctor and UCSF alumnus, class of 1958. Artifacts include anatomical models of a hand, foot, heart, brain, nasal passage, eye, spine fragments, knee, kidney and a metal anesthesia mask. Some of the artifacts (hand, foot, heart) include the model manual. The artifacts are from the 1960s-1970s.

Acquisition information:
This collection was donated to the UCSF Archives and Special Collections by Suzanne Byrd in June 2025.
Physical description:
The skeleton of the hand is broken - detached from stand. The anatomical handstand is broken at the attachment. The yellow skull seems to have been glued together at some point and there is slight melting of one of the pieces.
