Background
- Scope and content:
-
Six interior photos, all dated June 1902, document the dark Victorian period furnishings of rooms of a residence on the Rancho, called "Descanso", including the side porch, hall, stairway, parlor, dining room, library and office. Also included is an exterior shot of the residence, with adjoining tennis court, presumably the same home depicted in the interior photos, with caption "Rear View of Residence, Arlington, Calif. June 1902." A second set of photographs, dated Feb. 1904, provides views of a packing house and barn, probably part of the operations of the 80-acre navel orange orchard of the Everest Rancho Company. There are also shots of a palm-lined irrigation canal, a palm-lined avenue, and a view across orange groves of large houses in the distance, captioned [View of] "Lot 8 from Residence on Lot 7."
