Biographical / historical:: Louis Christian Mullgardt (1866-1942) was an important Bay Area architect and proponent of the "First Bay Tradition" architectural style (late 19th to early 20th century). Among his commissions were structures for the 1915 Panama-Pacific International Exposition and an expansion of the former M.H. de Young Memorial Museum, as well as private residences around the Bay Area The Moffitt House (located in Piedmont, CA) was demolished in the 1930s.
