Scope and content:

Included are working files for the magazines and small press books Griffith edited and published between 1945 and 1995, consisting of manuscripts, correspondence, ephemera, some photographs and audiocassettes, as well as most of the publications themselves.

Some correspondence and other files involve Griffith's associates William Childress (especially for Poetry Now) and Lloyd Zimpel (Griffith's co-editor at Minnesota Quarterly, largely pre-dating the collection].

Griffith's own writings and manuscripts, including a novel-length work, are also included.

The collection was extensively described prior to receipt by Stanford, with listings of nearly every manuscript or letter from each poet over a period of over forty years.

Restrictions:

Open for research. Note that material must be requested at least 36 hours in advance of intended use. Audiovisual materials are not available in original format, and must be reformatted to a digital use copy.
