Kris Kovick (1951-2001) was a lesbian cartoonist, writer, performance artist, activist, and printer. Kovick extensively contributed to queer and/or humor publications in addition to authoring her own collection, What I Love About Lesbian Politics Is Arguing With People I Agree With (1991). Throughout the 1990's, she was an active figure in San Francisco performance art and activist scenes, including hosting a monthly show at Red Dora's Bearded Lady Cafe, touring with Sister Spit, and leading organizing efforts in the Bernal Heights community. The collection features: published articles, comics and writings; correspondence; drawings, drafts, and prints of finished comics; photo slides of comics; writing drafts and notes; photocopies of journals; flyers and event memorabilia; photographs taken by Phyllis Christopher; photo albums; CDs; materials related to Kovick's memorial service; clothing items; and objects from Kovick's home. In addition to Kovick's personal materials, this collection includes photos, letters, and other records sent by friends after Kovick's death as well as digital records compiled by affiliates of her estate.
