Tape of a symposium following the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake, featuring speakers from the Stanford-United States Geological Survey Center for Research in Earthquake Engineering - Haresh Shah, Helmut Krawinkler, and Anne Kiremidjian. Topics discussed include geophysics of earthquakes, ground motion, and building failures. Also included is video footage taken on October 19, 1989, of damage to Green Library, Geology Corner, the Museum, the anatomy building, and Encina Hall at Stanford University. Includes a 30 minute source tape and 5 minute edited version; the latter also includes footage from two classes that were being filmed as the earthquake struck.
