- Alicia Alarc贸n is a Los Angeles based radio and TV personality and journalists who has hosted a show on Radio 脷nica 1580 AM since the 1990s. Much of her work has focused on the experiences of immigrants and crossing the U.S.-Mexico border. She compiled these narratives into a book titled La Migra me hizo los mandados (2002). This collection documents her work and includes writings and photographs, as well as audio and audio-visual recordings of her media work.

This collection documents the work of Alicia Alarc贸n. Materials include copies of her books, writings, correspondence, photographs, and audio-visual materials. The audio-visual materials include VHS tapes, audio cassettes, and CD-ROMs. All the audio-visual materials contain recordings of her work as a broadcaster and host, both on via radio and television.

Alicia Alarc贸n was born in Jocotepc, Jalisco, Mexico. Her family moved to Mexicali in her youth, where the realities of living on a border significantly impacted her outlook on life. She has worked as journalist for La Opini贸n, Univisi贸n, and Radio CNN en Espa帽ol in Los Angeles. Her career has centered on her Los Angeles-based radio show on Radio 脷nica 1580 AM. She started working in radio in 1994 and over the years had encourage her listeners to call in and share their stories and experiences around immigration. She compiled these narratives into a book titled La Migra me hizo los mandados (2002). The book has been translated into English as The Border Patrol Ate My Dust.
