- Arthur Schnitzler (1862-1931) was a physician and author. He wrote poems, plays, short fiction, and novels. The collection consists of microfilm copies of the Arthur Schnitzler Archives from Cambridge. The microfilm includes manuscripts, correspondence, scripts, sketches, a dissertation on Schnitzler, and autobiographical material and documents related to Arthur Schnitzler's father, Johann Schnitzler.

The bulk of this collection is microfilm copies of the Arthur Schnitzler Archives from Cambridge. Microfilm includes manuscripts, correspondence, scripts, and sketches. The microfilm also includes Henry Schnitzler's letters to Theodor Hersel, a copy of Susan Polsterer's Ph.D thesis about Arthur Schnitzler from the University of Vienna, and autobiographical material and documents related to Arthur Schnitzler's father, Johann Schnitzler. Original material includes Arthur Schnitzler's manuscript diaries (1879-1931).

Schnitzler was born May 15, 1862 in Vienna, Austria; graduated from the University of Vienna in 1885 and became a practicing physician; he was more interested in a literary career, and his poems began to appear in literary journals under the pen name Anatol in 1886; he characterized himself as an Austrian writer of Jewish origin and wrote plays, short fiction, and novels; died in Vienna on October 21, 1931.
