Biographical / historical:

American ideologically conservative student and youth activism organization that was founded in 1960 as a coalition between traditional conservatives and libertarians on American college campuses.

The New Guard magazine made its debut as the official magazine of YAF.
1960
Young Americans for Freedom (YAF) is founded on September 11, 1960, at the home of William F. Buckley Jr. in Sharon, Connecticut. The Sharon Statement, YAF's founding document, is also drafted at this gathering.
2011
YAF officially becomes a project of the Young America's Foundation.
1962
Ronald Reagan joins the YAF National Advisory Board, eventually becoming YAF's Honorary National Chairman – a relationship that would last for more than forty years.
1962
YAF spearheads the "Rally for World Liberation from Communism," hosting 18,500 conservatives at Madison Square Garden in New York City. This event is one of the largest conservative events in history.
